This was my first time in Melbourne that wasn't just for a work meeting. I was keen to explore the streets and armed with my trusty camera I took off.
The thing which struck me the most about Melbourne is the incredible wide streets and sidewalks. This gives the city a sense of space not normally found in cities. It also makes it easier to run a tram network through the city too.
Melbourne is famous for having 'four seasons in one day' and I certainly experienced this. From cool and chilly mornings, rain and then warm sunshine.
There are many traces of extremely modern architecture around Melbourne, providing an interesting mix of new and old.
Whether full of people and cafes or just bins, there was always a sense of colour hidden down the most remote alleyway.
The conservatory in Fitzroy Gardens provided a respite from the bland colour palate of the city It was bursting full of colour which was a a dramatic contrast to the green and brown colours of winter in the park.
The suburbs of East Melbourne are a beautiful mix of architectural styles, situated in wonderful wide tree lined streets.
You can't go to Melbourne and not indulge in its beautiful food and drink.
Just outside the bustle of Melbourne is the Mornington Peninsula. There you will find numerous wineries.
